MASHA

A devised piece, based on Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull that uses stand-up and audience partipation to radically re-examine the complicated relationship between motherhood, female identity, and performance.

Developed as a part of the Collisions Festival, and performed at Sprint & Calm Down Dear at Camden Peoples Theatre.

‘smoke a cigar or drink a glass of vodka and you’re no longer you – you’re you plus someone else. the self grows blurred and you start to see yourself as a third person – not as ‘i' but as [s]he’.’

(Dorn, Act II, The Seagull)
