this is not a test are performer/co-creator Maria Teresa Creasey and director/co-creator Rebecca Reeves. We are a UK based company with a shared interest in radical performance aesthetics, liveness and a commitment to character-led storytelling. Think the Riot Grrl movement, meets Stewart Lee, meets Cindy Sherman, meets Thomas Ostermeir, meets Bertolt Brecht.

We make shows that sit somewhere in a surreal Venn diagram where theatre, performance art and stand-up meet. Our work explores the intersection of identity, femininity, the male gaze and marginalisation. We are interested in exposing what it means to be a woman in all its horror and glory.

Our work is intense, funny, sometimes uncomfortable with a healthy dose of disrespect for convention.
